Production Supervisor

Location: North Billerica, MA, NOT REMOTE

Job Summary

This is a 2nd shift position 1:00pm – 9:30pm.

The Production Supervisor supervises work centers to help maintain on time assembly standards and procedures as well coordinate and schedule and control the production activities and personnel. The Supervisor helps to develop a cross training matrix and give input to the Production Manager regarding final assembly technicians in performing diversified assembly operations on all system, sub-systems, mechanisms, and controls to ensure unit conformance to specification prior to shipment. In addition, the Supervisor will support the implementation and ongoing activities required to achieve and maintain ISO registration and assist quality and manufacturing personnel to help and define and implement Lean Manufacturing Methodologies.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Help supervising manufacturing employees in their job performance
  • Report work status and related issues to the Production Manager
  • Work with the procurement team to help resolve part orders and shortages
  • Work with planners to help timely release and kitting of work order to work centers
  • Assist in the collection of records necessary to satisfy the final assembly and production floor and quality documentation requirements on the product
  • Help train and instruct production staff in all phases of their jobs
  • Collaborate with engineers and other support functions on production related issues involving ECO’s or other technical changes like labor hours
  • Work as a contributing member in a team manufacturing setting
  • Follow ISO procedures
  • Strictly adhere to BTU safety procedures
  • Perform timecard review weekly for the production staff
  • Inspect the work of others and assist when needed
  • Participate in the implementation and sustain GMP and Lean initiatives
  • Recommend need of preventative and corrective actions to improve quality
  • Oversee all equipment requirements within a work center and help schedule routine/periodical maintenance when required
  • Work with production and quality managers to help define Work Cell Metrix
  • Interview/screen potential candidates for job openings within any BTU work center

Skills and knowledge

  • Experience with all levels of assembly or mechanical troubleshooting
  • Basic welding and sheet metal knowledge
  • Basic understanding of project management
  • Understanding of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing Methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience leading a production team (job assignments, training, discipline, and attendance)
  • Knowledge of all aspects of manufacturing (production, logistics, maintenance)
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Proven record in resolving conflict

Education and experience

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or Mechanical engineering a plus
  • Three plus year’s experience in a manufacturing environment and in a supervision or team lead role
