BTU’s Fred Dimock to Instruct Solder Reflow Fundamentals Course during SMTAI

NORTH BILLERICA, Mass., August 25, 2015— BTU International, Inc., a leading supplier of advanced thermal processing equipment for the electronics manufacturing and alternative energy markets,announces that Fred Dimock will co-present a course with Karl Seelig, vice president of technology at AIM Metals & Alloys, during SMTA International. The presentation entitled “Solder Reflow Fundamentals – Thermal Profiles & Defect Mitigation” is scheduled to take place Sunday, September 27, 2015, from 1:30-5 p.m. CDTat the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill.

This class is an extension of “Solder Reflow Fundamentals – Understanding and Obtaining Profiles.” It will focus on how the shape of reflow profiles affects various defects and what the SMT engineer/technician can do to eliminate them. It is designed for SMT engineers/technicians who want a better understanding of the reflow process to identify defects and give practical troubleshooting steps.

Dimock is the manager of process technology at BTU International in Massachusetts. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design from Wentworth in Boston and a Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramic Engineering from the State University of New York at Alfred (SUNY). His extensive experience in thermal processing includes positions at Corning, General Electric and Osram-Sylvania before joining BTU.
