Shipping Logistics Coordinator

Location: North Billerica, MA

Job summary

Handling shipments for both domestic and international customers, from the packaging stage to the actual shipment. Ensure compliance with import/export regulations in accordance with Federal and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. . Works closely with forwarding companies to secure on-time shipments.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare all domestic and export documentation for the effective transport of any local, domestic or international shipment, in compliance with any appropriate regulations
  • Source generic and custom-sized packaging materials and crates for safe transportation of all products
  • Maintain accurate shipping records
  • Collaborate and build relationships with customers, carriers, and agent representatives regarding air and ocean import
  • Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies; communicate in timely manner with both customers and vendors
  • Operate UPS and FEDEX package system for shipping
  • Pull product from bin locations as per sales orders
  • Collaborate and build relationships with customers, carriers, and agent representatives regarding air and ocean import to strengthen service competitiveness
  • Follow ISO policy & procedures
  • Strictly adhere to BTU safety procedures

Skills and knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of industry and U.S. export and import requirements
  • Exceptionally strong attention to detail and good communications skills
  • Must be extremely organized and have the ability to prioritize and respond to sudden changes in priorities
  • Must be able to lift 50+lbs and meet the physical demands of the job
  • Interacts well with internal customers including peers, supervisors, managers and external customers including delivery and truck drivers
  • General knowledge of ERP system (Epicor Vantage experience a plus)
  • Self-motivated individual with high level of enthusiasm
  • Operate UPS and FEDEX package systems for shipping
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Excel, Word, Outlook

Education and experience

  • High School Diploma and/or higher educational experience
  • Minimum of five years shipping experience in manufacturing environment
